If you take (or have tried) 2 or more of the following medications for migraines and you’re still suffering from recurring migraines then chances are you would be a great candidate for upper cervical chiropractic care;
Imitrex, Relpax, Maxalt, Frova, Axert, Amerge, or Zomig (that’s my favorite name… reminds me of “zombie”… which is how you feel when on it!)
All of those medications for migraines are in the same family of drugs – triptans. All of these drugs target the same receptors in the body and if one doesn’t work well for you then chances are you’ll have trouble finding another that does. Not to mention than when you take multiple medications at one time you run the risk of complicated drug interaction and unexpected side-effects. Soon you find yourself having to choose between feeling bad from a migraine or medication side-effects.
The vast majority of Dr. Jason Gonzales’ patients with migraines that have responded very well to upper cervical chiropractic care had previously tried several prescription and over the counter medications for migraines with poor results. They’ve also had MRI’s that come back negative and lab/blood work that comes back negative for anything having to do with migraines.
Seeing as how a migraine is really a central nervous system problem, not a blood vessel constriction problem as once thought, it makes sense that the vast majority of people with recurring migraines respond very well to upper cervical specific chiropractic care. This specialized form of chiropractic care follows strict protocols in order to improve the function of the patient’s central nervous system. It may sound complicated and scary, but actually upper cervical specific chiropractic care is very safe and requires far fewer adjustments than a traditional chiropractic care.
An important note to the reader… not all chiropractors are upper cervical chiropractors just like not all medical doctors know how to perform surgery. Upper cervical chiropractors have specialized equipment and follow strict protocols when working with their patients.
